Sgt. Robert Ward was recognized at the Aug. 1 township supervisors meeting. He has done an exemplary job, he has been a consummate professional, and there is no one in this township who has not dealt positively with Sgt. Ward one way or another, Police Chief Mark Toomey said in introducing Ward to the audience. Ward, who began his career as a Limerick police officer in 1973, officially retired from the Upper Providence police department on July 22. A longtime volunteer firefighter, Ward is president of the New Hanover volunteer and rescue services, is a life member of the Blackrock, Mont Clare Oaks and Sanatoga Fire Companies, and an honorary member of the Collegeville Fire Department.
